The DBSA Tampa Bay, Inc. is a state registered 501C (3) non-profit organization. Our support groups are not therapy groups. We do not diagnose disorders or prescribe medications. Diagnosis, prescribing of medication, and therapy are the responsibility of licensed mental health professionals. Our groups provide support to those who are being professionally treated. It is not recommended that an individual with significant depression or other affective disorders merely attend a support group without also seeking professional help. The peer to peer support and conversation provided by our groups has been found to be extremely beneficial to those who are also in a medically accepted mental health treatment plan.
